Sewer Overflow Notification
Residents can now sign up to receive notifications when untreated sewage from the Riverside Sewer Pump Station is released into area waterways. Under normal operating conditions this is not an imminent threat, and is not known to have occurred ever during the 40+ year history of the pump station.
The alert system was created following the passage of a 2021 law signed by former Gov. Charlie Baker that requires public notification when untreated sewage is released into the town’s bodies of water. When a discharge or overflow occurs, the Town sends out a public notification and places an alert on the town website.
